There never seems to be enough hours in the day to paint all that I see in my mind. I have completed two works in my self esteem series, “I Am Beautiful” and “I am Free to be Me.” “I Am Beautiful” is on display in the main gallery at Arts Post at the southern end of Victoria St Hamilton in the “Facets of Creativity” exhibition until the 25th April. These paintings are available in quality prints – on paper, canvas prints, or on stretched canvas, as are many of my paintings.
I invite you to take a tour of my studio on this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpk72FAqTi8 (more…)

Find out why this little-known antioxidant is key to fighting toxicity and premature aging — and warding off chronic disease.

By Catherine Guthrie / April 2011

If biochemistry were the stuff of comic books, antioxidants would be the superheroes — with glutathione (gloota-thigh-own) being no less than a cross between Superman and Underdog. As the most powerful antioxidant in the body, glutathione works around the clock to fend off nefarious characters. And yet, few people recognize its importance. (more…)

If you are in debt, then you can exercise your authority as a child of God and call your debts paid. Jesus said, “If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even [so small] like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.” (Luke 17:6 AMP)

Think about it: paper money, notes, and mortgages are made out of trees and Jesus said the tree would obey your faith filled words. (more…)

Yesterday New Zealand experienced the biggest disaster of my lifetime. A 6.3, shallow earthquake rocked our cathedral city. Twenty three after shocks since then are keeping nerves on edge. There is a loss of precious lives. At this time there are a confirmed 75 deaths but there are more to come. Other victims are waiting to be identified. Three hundred people are reported missing. Hopefully some of them have just relocated. (more…)

Today about 1 billion Valentines day cards are being sent out around the world to express love and affection between intimate companions. There will be lots of warm fuzzies going on especially among young people and there will be some heartaches because they didn’t receive a card from the person of their dreams. I guess Valentine’s Day is a good thing overall and I know the retailers and particularly florists will certainly have a boost in their businesses today.
To express love to another is a powerful thing (more…)

Autism is on the rise.

For a number of years the accepted rate of autism was about one in 150, but for awhile now I have been stating that the incidence is far higher than that, and now we finally have statistics to support that.

Overall, the 2007 survey results from the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) reveals a 100 percent increase in parent-reported cases of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), compared to their 2003 survey.

Since 1980 obesity rates have doubled. The world is becoming a heavier place, especially in the West.

Obesity rates worldwide have doubled in the last three decades even as blood pressure and cholesterol levels have dropped, new research says.

People in Pacific Island nations like American Samoa are the heaviest, the study shows. Among developed countries, Americans are the fattest and the Japanese are the slimmest. (more…)

1: Write out your mission statement
On a piece of paper write something like: “I commit to losing 20lbs by 1st April 2011.” Then sign it and put it where you will see it every day. Read it to yourself out loud twice a day (morning and night).

2: Write out your plan
Expand on your mission statement and write a detailed description of your plan. Then chunk it down to the level of the small daily tasks you’ll complete each day. An easy way to do this is to imagine that you’ve already succeeded and ask yourself which steps you took to get to this point. Work backwards and write down everything that you come up with. Post this list up next to next to your mission statement. (more…)

With only a few days left until Christmas, you might be like a lot of people, rushing from store to Internet site in-between the Christmas parties, family get-togethers, school programs, decorating, extra cooking, cleaning and baking, writing of Christmas cards – you know how it can be!
Whether this describes you or not, here’s an idea that will not only reduce some of the Christmas frenzy, but gets back to the true spirit of giving. It’s called gifts from the heart. Very simply, giving a gift from the heart means giving of yourself to another. Depending on the individual, this could mean giving your time or a skill as the gift. These presents are as unique as the giver, the possibilities are limitless, and you can give them at other times (more…)
